A Pledge
I have witnessed all of you,
the foolish and the wise;
the beauty and the turbulence
of the world behind your eyes.
I'm not saying that you're perfect
(that'd be boring anyway),
but here I stand before you
hoping you won't walk away.
You are worth every heartbreak,
every rainfall, every fight;
you are worth every moment shared
in darkness as in light.
And I'm not Prince Charming either,
I don't have a noble steed;
but if you'll have this peasant,
he'll go anywhere you lead.
This poem's getting sappy,
and I'm not sure what to do.
but there is one thing that's certain;
I know that I love you.

That was how he described their home to her. It hung from the side of the cliff facing the western end of the river, cantilevered out on reinforced wooden stilts. The young girl had never left the confines of the village; after remarking on the distant hamlets and farms that dotted the fields below, she wondered what her own home looked like to outsiders and travelers in the world below.
"You mean a sea-carriage?" Her voice was light and sweet like honeysuckle, and carried the lilt of a soprano. He laughed then, a deep, appreciative chuckle. She loved it when he laughed. He always threw his head

Mages of Myth - Book 3 Chapter 5 (Part Two)
Jasmine talked with a few of her Shadow Thieves. Once she was done, she approached the mages. She smiled knowingly to Griffin, but addressed them evenly: “My gypsies are very thankful for what you all did last night. You saved us from the night creatures.” She paused. “They are wondering if you all will stay longer…they wish more protection of you.” She bit her lip in reluctance.
Griffin stepped close to her. “Jasmine,” he said. “We really have to continue our journey.” He gazed at her sadly. “We can afford no more…delays.” He sighed. He glanced at the other mages and he

Underworld Academy Chapter 18
“More than half of that isn’t our fault. We ran into…obstacles. Stacy was hexed, for starters. That ‘reliquary’ that Durwood gave her had a witch’s finger, raven feathers, and some blue sand that Flint and me don’t recognize.” Raze’s voice woke her, but she didn’t open her eyes. She wanted to hear the conversation.
“It’s ‘and I’, honestly.” Archie clicked his tongue disapprovingly and continued, “I assume the sand would be from Horomancy. Specifically, one of his hourglasses, meant to induce sleep o
